It is certainly a damning indictment that the Church, which should be God's earthly agent for liberation, is in fact a key agent of oppression (given its foundational rôle for mindsets across Europe, North America and elsewhere).

Nonetheless, until the Church recognises it's guilt and accepts it as part of its history, mea culpa, it can never be free from it.
