Plymouth Community

A new peace church community has recently sprung up in Plymouth, UK. More precisely, they're in Eggbuckland, so if you're in the area I'm sure they'd love you to make contact.

You may like to visit their own website, www.peacechurchplymouth.moonfruit.com to find out more about them.

Here's their description of who they are and what they're about...

What are we like? We are just ordinary people who believe in living our faith in a natural way which does not involve programmes and missions but rely on authentic friendships to show Gods love to others.

JESUS
Peace Church is about being centred on Jesus: utterly committed to Jesus being the centre of our faith, not as a set of theological principles but as a living person, longing to be in harmony with the character and the person of Jesus – Jesus at the centre of our faith, our hope, our understandings, our reaching out to others, our relations with all believers, our salvation, our behaviour, our reasoning, our understanding of salvation, our politics and economics, families and communities.

COMMUNITY
Peace church is an inclusive community respecting and revelling in individuals and their wisdom, understanding and insight, in the Spirit, but rooting the responsibility of biblical interpretation and application in the judgement of the community of faith.

A community which; recognises that the practice of sharing bread and wine portrays the concept of sharing lives, resources, finances, time, energy, etc.

A community of people where the gospel is good news to the poor, the widow, the orphan and the foreigner.

A peaceful community which hungers and thirsts for peace and gentleness in every circumstance, working as ‘shalom activists’, committed to non-violence (not pacifism).

FREEDOM
Peace Church believes in Freedom:- freedom from, sin, death and hell, yes, but also freedom to, the Kingdom of God; committed to exploring values of Jesus so that he may write his words on our hearts and be liberated to walk with him and be his people that he might walk with us and be our God, through the vibrant presence of the Spirit within us.

While the Law alone does not bring freedom, it is however the foundation from which the Spirit draws his spontaneous inspiration, to write upon our hearts the perfect will of God, so we might live in a way which is liberating not just for us but also for those we meet.
