Venue: The Bakers' place
Several times over the last few months I've talked in passing about the formative importance of Anabaptism for me, and almost every time I've mentioned the words I've seen blank faces staring back at me.
Since Anabaptism is such an important part of my motivation for initiating peace church and, with Sarah, originally instantiating a peace church community here in Birmingham, I thought it was about time we had some time set aside to examine what Anabaptism is all about, and most especially how it started. In fact this is the first of three evenings on the subject.
I'll give a sketch of the birth of Anabaptism, covering both the history and the theological-doctrinal issues that cultivated the genesis of the 'radical reformation' as it's sometimes called. And hopefully I'll be able to put it all into a glorious technicolour and stereophonic sound multimedia presentation too! Oooh!
