Is Christianity ecologically bankrupt?

Submitted by Joe on May 3, 2006 - 9:33am.

I've just completed an essay for Advanced Workshop on the ethical guilt of Christianity for the ecological crisis, which I've also published on this site in episodes (the essay hasn't been marked yet, so it's published here only as a conversation-starter).

The essay title was ...

CRITICALLY EVALUATE THE RANGE OF CHRISTIAN RESPONSES TO THE ACCUSATION THAT ATTITUDES TOWARD CREATION FOUND IN THE BIBLE HAVE BEEN A ROOT CAUSE OF THE CURRENT ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS.

And you can read my essay on this question here ...

So, in the light of the issues set out in the essay, is Christianity ecologically bankrupt? Do any of the responses cut the mustard for you, at all? Do you have a 'third way' response of your own? What can be learnt from these responses? Is there an alternative response that synthesises something from this range of responses...?
